Transfer tape is an integral part of applying vinyl decals and vinyl lettering. Transfer tape allows you to keep all the separate pieces of your vinyl project positioned correctly as you are transferring it to your chosen surface.
We offer transfer tape rolls as well as the lined gridded transfer tape in rolls and sheets. If you are unfamiliar with transfer tape, here is a guide to which one to try:
- Oracal HT-55 100 yd rolls - This transfer tape looks and feels like masking tape. It is also referred to as "paper transfer tape". This transfer tape was manufactured specifically for the Oracal Matte Vinyl. It also works great on all other types of vinyl. If you don't think you can use up a 100 yd roll of 12 inch tape, then try the 3-inch roll and layer it on your larger projects. This is by far the best one for matte vinyl.
- Lined Gridded Transfer Tape - This transfer tape has a wax paper backing just like the vinyl. It works well with the matte vinyl as well as all other types of vinyl. The red grids (which have approximately 1 inch grid increments) make it easy to line up your project on the wall.
- Clear Transfer Tape - This transfer tape is a clear plastic tape. This tape is best for glossy outdoor vinyl. It does work most of the time on matte vinyl, but it does have limitations. The clear tape does not stretch, so it is a little harder to work with. Because it is clear, it is easier to line up your projects to your surface.
- Clear Transfer Tape with Grids - This transfer tape is a clear plastic tape with blue grid lines. It is a medium tack tape, which means it will stick to most everything, but probably not the matte vinyl. This tape is best for glossy outdoor vinyl. The clear tape does not stretch, so it is a little harder to work with. Because it is clear, it is easier to line up your projects to your surface.
